Corn On The Cob

We enjoyed home grown corn on the cob this evening. Madalynn wants a big one with peanut butter. She loves peanut butter but means plain butter. Leon (my husband) asked her if it was good and what it tasted like. She said it was good and tasted like peanut butter and jelly, whatever that means. Haha

Family Fun Day

Leon was able to sneak out of the field for a couple of hours so we could go to the Mitchell Museum for Family Days. Today the kids made Father's Day plaques out of self-hardening clay. Then Madalynn wanted to swing so we went to the park which was very HOT! So of course we had to have ice cream, can't be a family fun day without ICE CREAM.
(Sorry all of the pictures were taken on my phone and aren't very good quality.)

She prefers sisters cup.

Note the rubber boots.

Sunshine Tea

Madalynn is a book worm and received Fancy Nancy Tea Parties for her birthday. In the book there is a recipe for Sunshine Tea. She and I made it. She had alot of fun and it was very simple. This book is filled with lots of great ideas that you and your little girls can do together. You can purchase this book at http://www.amazon.com/Fancy-Nancy-Parties-Jane-OConnor/dp/0061801747/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1339783881&sr=8-5&keywords=fancy+nancy+book.

Sunshine Tea a la Nancy
Place four to six tea bags in a pitcher and fill it with two quarts of water. Cover the pitcher so that nothing can get inside. Place the pitcher outside in the sunlight and leave it there for three to five hours. (as the sun moves make sure to move your pitcher too!) Then put the pitcher in the refrigerator. Before you serve the ice tea, add sugar. A little orange juice in it is very tasty too.

Beauty Can Come From The Ditch

The children and I were driving home this evening and I spotted this sunflower in the road ditch. It was an unexpected beauty and made me think of God's grace. How such a horrible place like a ditch can have something so beautiful in it. I have heard people say they were not worth anything, would never become anyone of value, they're living in the "ditch". But, with God's grace, you can be covered with his blood and with time grow up out of that ditch. You will be as beautiful to him as this sunflower was to me.

Salon Day

Madalynn and I spent some time in the salon this afternoon. She got a haircut, yes her Daddy approved before I cut it,and a pedi complete with pink toe nails. Maylee even got in on the action and got her hair blow dried by Madalynn and pink toes (not by Madalynn haha).

First Ripe Tomato

Maylee eating the 1st ripe tomato.

I discovered the first ripe tomato tonight while watering the garden.  I laid it on the concrete to return to it later, but Maylee discovered it first. She has always spit tomatoes out but the taste of a home grown one right off the vine was to good to pass up.
